Dollhouse set for UK debut
Joss Whedon fans (and there are plenty of them) should know Sci-Fi starts showing the Buffy and Firefly writer-director's new series - Dollhouse - next month.
Having managed to get a sneek preview of the series, I'd say it's definitely worth a watch.
Starring Eliza Dushku (Faith in Buffy), the show centres on a mysterious company which supplies the rich and powerful with 'Dolls' - people whose personalities and existence in the outside world have been wiped clean so they can be imprinted with any number of new personas, including memory, skills, and language, for different assignments.
Dushku plays Echo, a Doll who starts to remember more than she should.
Another familiar face among the cast is Helo from Battlestar Galactica (also known as actor Tahmoh Penikett) as an FBI agent determined to bring the Dolls to light.
For a Whedon creation there is a curious lack of the witty, snappy dialogue he is famous for, but Dollhouse redeems itself thanks mainly to the premise and the mystery behind it.
Word of warning: as with any Whedon show (especially as it's being produced for axe-happy Fox) there is always the possibility a second series won't see the light of day. Fingers-crossed then.
