The death of Rose Tyler - Dr Who tearjerker

Doctor Who's lovelorn companion Rose Tyler faces fresh heartbreak after her much-hyped return to the series.

We can reveal that Rose, played by Billie Piper, will die.

But not at the hand of the Daleks who are ready to invade Planet Earth again.

She'll simply grow old and die, without ever finding true love with her Time Lord.

Writer Steven Moffat, the new Dr Who chief in waiting, boasts that he has never killed a character in the episodes he has written.

But he admits that he has let Rose die of old age.

"I don't think that counts," he says.

"I think I'll have to be a lot more bloodthirsty when I take the chair."
